We all love big round bokeh balls of light. There is an easy way to change their shape. All you need is some black cardboard and a pair of scissors.
First, you need to cut a shape in the cardboard. After that, you put it in front of your lens. The cardboard needs to cover all the lens. When you take your picture, the out of focus lights will have the same shape.
On your right, I cut out a heart shape in the cardboard. I used the Fuji X-T1 with the 56mm f/1.2 to take a picture of my son in front of the Christmas lights we have in the windows. You can see the resulting heart shaped bokeh lights below.
Don't over do it. It can be cheesy. It can also be fun on a creative project though.
